Room 6 loves sport! But sometimes it can get out of hand. That is why we learnt about the importance of sportsmanship. At Glen Innes School we play hard but we play fair. No tantrums, no bullying, no hurting, and no damage is our policy. Room 6's movie shows that whether you win or lose, there is no fun in being unsportsmanlike. Are you one of these bad sports?
Welcome to Room 9 class blog. We are a class of year 6 and 7 learners from Glen Innes School and our teacher is Miss Donaldson. See what we get up to in our classroom and let us know what you think!

Recount Quiz
Today I did a recount quiz made by my teacher. I answered all of eleven questions right but they were tricky. Some were asking what connectives you'll use and click on the right one, one even said that what what event would you see in a recount then you click on the correct one. One question also asked what a recount is. It has eleven questions that relates to recount. Thanks for reading and I hope this taught you something.

Cybersmart: Personal Profile
Today Rm6 was learning about Personal Profile it's about what you do online . For example if you put all of your details online like where you live, bank account, home address, phone number and your family details and thats not cool. This is what I wrote about my self :
My name is Mahaleah and I’m from New Zealand . I have a dog named Zion and he is a charpain. He likes to play with his bowling ball a lot and likes to fight over with his toys and also play with his imaginary friends .My sport that I play is Rugby , Soccer and Basketball. My favorite sports team is All Blacks .My favorite band are House of shem .Third my favorite food are Wendy's, Burger King and KFC .My subjects at school are writing and reading . For my goals I must be on task and listen to the teacher more often .
This is all you need to write about you can use your first name just not your last name because you don't want a creepy man stalking you. Remember that you have to be at a older age to have Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And don't use all of your details thats kind dumb. Think before you do.

Basic Facts - Prototec
In this maths test I got 87 percent on stage 7 and I found it quite difficult when it came to the part where I had to solve the fractions, percentages and decimals. I want to improve on knowing my fractions and percentages and to find the best strategy to solve them.
Author's Purpose: PIE
In room 6 we learnt about author's purpose.
author's purpose is about the three structural letters
and those are P.I.E . P is for persuade, I is for inform, and E is for entertain. persuade is the author trying to change your opinion.
next inform something that is trying to teach you something. and last entertain something that is trying to make you laugh.

Author's Purpose: PIE
We have been learning about Author's Purpose the last two weeks. We can use PIE to help us. P stands for Persuade, I stands for Inform and E stands for Entertain.

Problem Solving
- Mrs D had 94 lollipops in her bag. She saw Sam and gave him 62 lollipops. In total how much does Mrs have left?
- Ambi saved 82 dollars to go rainbow’s end. She had given her brother 48 dollars. How much did she have now?
- Sarah had 246 dinosaur. She has given away Sita 78 dinosaurs. How many did sarah have left?
- Povia had 945 barbie dolls for a garage sale. Kane saw a garage sale on and brought 468 barbie dolls. How much did Povia have left?
- Malae brought 145 fizzy drinks for Genesis birthday. Jamaine brought another 98 fizzy drinks for Genesis birthday. Altogether how many fizzy drinks are there.
This week in maths we were focussing on word problems. To help us understand if a question is addition and subtraction, we wrote our own word problems. This helped us to think about the keywords. We then swapped our problems with a friend and tried to solve their problems using the strategies we have learnt.

Our Last Swimming Lesson with our Swimming Coaches
Today was the last day with our coaches and it was fun with them. We learnt how to float on our backs and control our breathing in case you get in trouble in the boat’s. We also learnt how to do backstroke and freestyle with the one arm and on board. With the coaches I liked it when we played games and had races in the pool. Something I want to improve is my breathing because sometimes I forget to breath and I get tired really fast.

Room 6 Site Treasure Hunt
WALT: easily find our learning on our class site.
We did a treasure hunt on our class site. We did it to become familiar with the site. We did it so it can be easier for us to find what we need to do if we need to find something on the class site. We did it so we know what to do if Miss D gives us a task.
How we found it:
- Ferri: I found it Quite easy because we were on the class site and Miss Donaldson mostly shows us where it is.
- Indira: I found it quite easy to find the tasks Miss D gave Ferry and it helped me learn how to do a link.

Creating a Class Contract
Today in room 6 we created a class contract. First, we collaborated on an AnswerGarden (a word cloud app). We shared our ideas on "What helps you learn?". The answers that were repeated grew larger.
What helps you learn? Click here to look at the actual AnswerGarden |
Next, we added ideas to another answer garden, asking "What DOESN'T help you learn?" It turns out that our ideas are pretty similar.
What doesn't help you learn? Click here to look at the actual AnswerGarden |
After this, we choose the most important ideas from our AnswerGardens and turned them into some class guidelines. We did this in small groups.
Then we had a class discussion of all our ideas. We added some together and made them perfect! As a way of showing that we agree to our class contract, we each cut out and decorated a puzzle piece.
We will use the class treaty to create a happy and safe classroom. A classroom where every one can feel a part of.
